Wiping off a first-half deficit, George Telegraph SC scraped past United SC 2-1 at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium to enter the final of the 123rd IFA Shield.
United SC went on the offensive from the word go and shot into the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from Basudeb Mondal.
On resumption, George Telegraph threw caution to the wind, firing in two quick goals – Saddam Hossain in the 78th minute and Stanley Eze in the 82nd minute – to take the sting out of United SC. Though United SC launched a last-gasp assault to draw level, George Telegraph held on to their slim lead to book their place in the final.
George Telegraph SC will face Real Kashmir FC in the IFA Shield on Saturday, December 19 at the Saltlake Stadium.
