Hyderabad FC aim for positive result against Chennaiyin FC!

After the stellar comeback in the last round of the Indian Super League, Hyderabad FC are back in action this weekend.

The Nawabs will travel to take on Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, March 9.

The lads from Chennai are fresh from a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Odisha in the last round.

With the likes of Jordan Murray, Rafa Crivellaro, Conor Shields, Lazar Cirkovic, Ryan Edwards, Vincy Barretto and Debjit Majumder, Chennai have a strong squad that will test the HFC side in this game.

Speaking to the media ahead of this game, HFC Head Coach Thangboi Singto said that this game might be the toughest for his side yet in this campaign.

“Chennai are a bit mystical in their results. They are a strong side, with quality and experienced overseas players and others who can have an impact in front of goal,” he said.

“We know that this might be the toughest games for us so far this season but we are ready and will give it our all,” the Head Coach added.

The young HFC side came back from two down to register a point in the last game. Makan Chothe and Joao Victor were on the scoresheet on that night against NorthEast United.

The duo, along with the likes of Abdul Rabeeh, Ramhlunchhunga and Lalcchanhima Sailo have all put in some strong performances in the last few games.

The partnership of Alex Saji and Muhammed Rafi at the back has been solid while Laxmikant Kattimani has also pulled out some stunning saves in almost every game.

The squad jets off home for the International Break and coach Thangboi Singto hopes that they can leave the club hotel with a smile.

“After the last result, this game is more about improving in areas that we have to,” he said.

“We go into the game hoping for a win and go into the break on a positive note,” the coach added.

The Nawabs will miss the services of Manoj Mohammad and Aaren D’Silva, both of who are nursing long term injuries.

But they will also be without skipper Joao Victor and midfielder Mark Zothanpuia, both of who are suspended for accumulation of yellow cards.

The game kicks-off at 7:30pm IST on Saturday, March 9, and will be telecasted live on Sports 18 and VH1, with free streaming on Jio Cinema.
