Mohun Bagan begin their pre-season training with Calcutta Football League in mind!

Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan AC had their first training session of the 2017/18 season with a total of 31 players, including 15 who are on trial, in attendance at the Mohun Bagan ground on Wednesday morning.

Mohun Bagan so far have assembled a rather inexperienced squad with quality Indian player additions expected after the ISL draft.

Amongst those present where two of their three signed foreigners in Ivory Coast’s Kamo Stephane Bayi, I-League champions with Aizawl FC last season; and Ansumana Kromah of Liberia, who played for Churchill Brothers last term. Interestingly both players have experience in playing in Kolkata football.

Meanwhile the clubs third foreigner in Nigerian defender Eze Kingsley Obummeme, also signed from Aizawl FC, is expected to join the squad in the next few days.

Like last season Shankarlal Chakraborty will be in charge of the team for the Calcutta Football League with head coach Sanjay Sen acting like a mentor.

Good luck to the young recruits of Mohun Bagan.

If they can prove themselves in this CFL then next year they should be playing in the ISL-I League combined single league.

In accordance with a news report published today in the popular bengali newspaper anandabazar ( see url below ), AIFF has recently received a letter from AFC wherein AFC has suggested AIFF to have a single League next season containing 18 clubs. The AFC has asked AIFF to include in that league clubs with history and mass support and that list includes East Bengal , Mohun Bagan , Mohammedan Sporting , Dempo and Salgaocar.
