In continuity with the commitment already demonstrated last season, AC Milan once again teams up with PUMA in the RE:JERSEY circularity project, launched to promote production models that guarantee greater sustainability through end-to-end recycling methods.
While the kits produced by PUMA are made from 100% recycled polyester, the kits made in the RE:JERSEY project are made from 75% recycled football shirts and 25% SEAQUAL® MARINE PLASTIC, through a chemical process that guarantees a lower environmental impact and the same quality as virgin polyester.
From tomorrow, as part of the project promoted by PUMA, the Club will launch a special prize draw and will use its Casa Milan, San Siro and San Babila stores as collection centres where fans can return their used garments – even if worn, torn and with logos, embroidery and emblems, but exclusively made of 100% polyester – to guarantee them a new life and thus contribute to the reduction of waste.
When dropping off their old garments, the fans will receive an activation code to enter the competition which is giving away Home 2022/23 jerseys – both autographed by the players and worn and autographed by Olivier Giroud – as well as tickets to selected Serie A home games and access to the Club’s Hospitality area during these matches. The competition will start tomorrow, Saturday 17 September, and the first winners will be announced by the end of the current calendar year.
AC Milan will rely on the support of Vesti Solidale, a non-profit cooperative that has been providing personal, environmental and social services since 1998, including the separate collection of clothes, to assess which returned articles of clothing can be considered suitable for recycling. The unsuitable garments will instead remain at the disposal of the same non-profit organisation, which will use them for its own projects to support people and families in situations of severe social hardship.
The launch of the competition, which fits in harmoniously with the Club’s social responsibility initiatives, follows AC Milan’s first adhesion to the same PUMA sustainable project, when the Rossoneri’s First Teams wore RE:JERSEY shirts before two Serie A matches, as well as the launch of the capsule collection created last February with PUMA and KOCHÉ from the recovery of unused football shirts.
