SC East Bengal announce signing of Germany defender Matti Steinmann!

Indian Super League newcomers SC East Bengal announced on Sunday the signing of Germany defender Ville Matti Steinmann ahead of the 2020/21 season.

25 year old Hamburg-born Ville Matti Steinmann played locally for TSV Bargteheide and SV Preußen Reinfeld at youth level before joining the Hamburger SV Academy. He was a regular at HSV II and also made one appearance for the Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga as a substitute against Bayern Munich.

Matti Steinmann thereafter spend time on loan with Chemnitzer FC before spending a season with 1.FSV Mainz 05 II before returning to Hamburger SV playing for their first and second team. In first half of 2019, Matti Steinmann went on loan to Danish Superliga club Vendsyssel FF before moving to A-League side Wellington Phoenix.

After the season with the New Zealand side playing in the Australian A-League, Wellington Phoenix now moves to India.

Matti Steinmann said, “I am really lookig forward to adding to the strength of SC East Bengal – the project under Robbie (Fowler) really excites me. I cannot wait to get going, for us and the millions of fans we have across the world.”
