The Indian Super League – Season 3 top of the table clash between Mumbai City FC and Delhi Dynamos ended in a goalless draw at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday night.
Mumbai City FC fielded a strong side except India captain Sunil Chhetri after a 10 day break, while the Delhi Dynamos head coach Gianluca Zambrotta send out a better ‘B’ team as it was their third match in only six days.
Both teams knew that the winner would go as table toppers in the knockout semifinals, but it was a slow start into the match as both the teams did not press on the gas and it was Mumbai City who had more of the chances through Diego Forlan, Krisztian Vadocz and Sehnaj Singh; while the Delhi Dynamos had their best attempt through a direct Bruno Pelissari free kick. At the break the match was goalless.
The match didn’t get much better in the second session, but it had better chances as Bruno Pelissari and Diego Forlan early on failed to score and then within a minute first Cafu hit the crossbar for Mumbai City and only seconds later at the other end Bruno Pelissari also hit the woodwork.
Towards the end Mumbai City FC had the better chances to score with Sony Norde, Gerson Vieira and Udanta Singh all not able to score.
The match ended goalless which meant that Mumbai City FC would finish the regular season as the league leaders with 23 points, while the Delhi Dynamos will get to know in which place they finish in the table after tomorrow’s final league game between Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United FC.
