ISL-4: Fortress the venue as Bengaluru FC face Delhi Dynamos challenge!

The Sree Kanteerava Stadium will play host to what’s sure to be an entertaining clash, as Albert Roca’s Bengaluru FC side host Delhi Dynamos on the back of a debut win in the Indian Super League on Sunday evening.

With both sides putting on dominating performances in their respective openers, the three points on offer provides either side enough motivation to go for the win and top the ISL standings at the end of Round-2.

Interestingly, the game will be the first time that Roca, as BFC coach, comes up against a Spanish counterpart. As was evident in the first round, both teams preferred a free-flowing game, hugely relying on possession.

“It will be a tough challenge to face Delhi Dynamos. I know their coach Miguel Angel Portugal, and he has great experience in the game. Delhi showed a lot of organisation on the field in the game against FC Pune City, so we need to be prepared for it,” said coach Roca on the eve of the clash.

Despite dominating majority of the proceedings in that clash, Delhi conceded twice in the second half and the Blues’ attacking line spearheaded by Miku and Sunil Chhetri, along with wingers Edu Garcia and Udanta Singh, will look to exploit any gaps they can create.

Both sides scoring multiple goals in their opening games, Roca put philosophy ahead of a high scoring affair. “I would prefer to win by playing good football. I would be happy with a 1-0 win because it shows a good balance between the attack and defense. A high-scoring affair would be good for spectators but would not be ideal for us.”

On the team news front, the Blues will be missing the services of Dimas Delgado, Joyner Lourenco and Lalthuammawia Ralte who continue their recovery from injury. Former Blues’ defender Lalmangaihsanga Ralte is set to make his first appearance at the Fortress since his move to Delhi in the summer.

The game is set to kick off at 8pm and will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network, HotStar and Jio TV.
