MPL-7: Chawnpui FC earned deserved point against Aizawl FC!

Mizoram Premier League newcomers Chawnpui FC passed a stern test in Aizawl FC in the final match of Round 6 as they come away with a well deserved point in a 2-2 draw.

It was the novice team who took the lead against their more experienced foes when the opportunistic David Laltlansanga scored in the 25th minute. But Chawnpui FC’s lead did not last long as F. Lalremsanga showed immense composure to put his side level three minutes later.

Aizawl FC almost took the lead on to occasions, hitting the bar once and forcing a fine save later on, as Isak Vanlalruatfela and Rochharzela terrorised Chawnpui FC’s backline.

Keeper Gurpreet Singh was also forced into action for Aizawl FC when Vanlalthanga was presented a chance inside the box.

And it was Vanlalthanga who found the net eventually in an outrageous fashion right on the stroke of half-time. A clearance from inside the box came to him near his own half, and he took a touch with his right foot and struck a sweet left footer which rooted Gurpreet in goal.

Aizawl FC reshaped after the break and immediately struck an equaliser through Lalkhawpuimawia on the 48th minute. He would later be guilty of missing a gilt-edged chance to give his side the lead only to be denies by the goalkeeper.

Aizawl FC were later reduced to 10 men when Hmingthanmawia was sent off for an unnecessary foul, but the reds were able to hang on till the end as they saw out their result after being handed a numerical disadvantage.
