Noel Le Graet steps down as France’s FFF president!

Noël Le Graët informed on Tuesday, February 28 the Executive Committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) his decision to step down.

Philippe Diallo, Vice-President, will act as interim President of the FFF until June 10, 2023, the date of the next Federal Assembly. The FFF Executive Committee also took note of Jamel Sandjak’s resignation and thanked him for his investment.

The FFF wishes to salute the remarkable sporting and economic record of Noël Le Graët. Since June 18, 2011, when he was elected, the men’s and women’s teams have won 11 titles and played six finals of international tournaments. These excellent results can be explained in particular by an ambitious training policy. Under the impetus of Noël Le Graët, the FFF supported and strengthened pre-training (26 Pôle Espoirs) and training alongside professional clubs. The French training is now considered one of the best in the world. The development of women’s football has also progressed significantly to reach 206,000 licensees (it was less than 90,000 in 2011/12).

The economic results have also doubled aid to amateur football to reach an all-time record of €104 million this season. These economic results have also made it possible to develop and implement strong educational and civic commitments (Federal Educational Program…) in training structures, amateur clubs, throughout France. The FFF is a solid institution that has weathered the health crisis and currently has €56 million in equity.

Regarding the audit of the General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research (IGESR), the FFF notes that this report does not mention any systemic failure, nor any breach of its sovereign missions. The FFF notes, however, that this report is based less on objective facts than on assessments that have sometimes led to a disproportionate denigration of the instance.

The FFF also regrets the lack of a real adversarial procedure and the failure to take into account the many observations made by the Federation on the subjects that concern it in terms of governance and the fight against sexist and sexual violence, with figures and examples in support.

The FFF therefore wishes to reaffirm its strong commitment against sexist and sexual violence as part of its policy to protect licensees. This commitment was and remains a priority.

The FFF will also continue work on reforming its governance under the Law of March 2, 2022. This work was undertaken even before the audit began.

However, the FFF undertakes to retain all the useful recommendations of this audit.
