1st AFC Youth Panel Meeting successfully concludes!

The 1st AFC Youth Panel Meeting for the term 2022-2023 convened on Thursday with the sharp focus on expanding the AFC Elite Youth Scheme to more Member Associations (MAs).

The virtual meeting started with the 16-member panel from 15 MAs receiving updates on the progress of the AFC Elite Youth Scheme where 19 MAs are currently endorsed as full members including one as a provisional member. Four other MAs are scheduled to be evaluated soon.
Additionally, the panel was also briefed that 10 youth academies in Asia are currently endorsed as elite one-star academies while four academies are listed as two and the gold standard three-star academies respectively.

The panel discussed the importance of improving talent identification and expanding the reach of the AFC Elite Youth Scheme with a proper action plan that will focus on increasing membership among MAs.

The members were also briefed on areas of improvement in the AFC Elite Youth Scheme while other topics discussed include providing support to MAs in the delivery of effective and successful youth projects, presenting greater opportunities for technical knowledge exchange and intensifying the analysis of youth competitions.

A wider discussion on creating an A-Youth Coaching Diploma was also highlighted while panel members received updates on the future of AFC youth competitions, AFC online youth sessions and post-pandemic possibilities.
