Jamshedpur FC score convincing win over Kerala Blasters!

Jamshedpur FC scored a 3-0 in over Kerala Blasters FC at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Thursday night.

The game was kicked-off by the Men of Steel and they meant business from early on in the game with a bunch of plays aimed at the Tuskers’ goal from all sides of the pitch, but nothing fruitful came through at the end of these plays. The Kerala Blasters squad also replied with a couple of chances for themselves but were not clinical enough to finish it off in the back of the net with no shots on target.

The first 30 minutes of the first half was dominated by the Jamshedpur side as they held onto the majority of the ball possession and were in charge of most of the attacks that were seen on the pitch in the first half of the match. One of the attacks towards the Kerala Blasters box turned out to be lucky for the Jamshedpur side as Greg Stewart with the ball in the box, got fouled on from the back to which the referee pointed at the spot for a penalty kick. The Scottish Premiership winner stepped up to take the kick and slotted it home for the Men of Steel with a sweet bottom corner finish as the goalkeeper of the Tuskers’ side went the opposite way with no chance to block it away, thus leading to the first goal of the game just moments before the first half got over.

The second half of the game began with the Tuskers taking chances and in just a couple of minutes into the second period, the Men of Steel got another opportunity to extend their lead with yet another penalty awarded after a off-the-ball slide tackle which took down Boris inside the box and goalscorer, Greg, took the responsibility of the spot kick again. The Scotsman came forward and took the penalty to finish it into the back of the net with a smooth ‘Panenka’ finish down the middle which made it two for Jamshedpur FC in the span of 10 minutes. The Men of Steel stood strong in their attacking and defending approach while they sat on a comfortable two goal lead; Kerala Blasters on the other hand looked hungry to get back into the game.

Despite multiple attempts to create scoring opportunities, Kerala Blasters were denied by the defence of the Men of Steel at every occasion. A free-kick earned in the middle of the pitch in one of the attacks by Jamshedpur FC, was taken quickly by Greg towards Boris on the right wing who ran into the box and lobbed it into the near post from the edge of the box. Daniel Chima, who was positioned in the middle of the box on the near post, finished the lobbed cross into the back of the net with a clean half volley which made it 3 goals to none on the scoresheet for Jamshedpur FC. An attack-minded Jamshedpur were not done yet as they came through with numerous attacks as they pushed to take the lead even higher with attempts from Ritwik Das from the left wing and a brilliant header from Ishan Pandita grazing inches away from the crossbar.

The game heated up as every minute passed with harsh fouls, quarrels between the players and warnings by the official being seen on almost all parts of the pitch as the game drew closer to its final whistle. The game ended in Jamshedpur FC’s favour with a scoresheet of 3 goals to none. The Men of Steel came back to make a strong statement after their previous fixture’s result. With the 3 winning points in hand and a clean sheet, Jamshedpur FC made their way into the top 4 again as they positioned themselves in the 2nd place with the acquired points, and just a point away from the table toppers along with an extra game in hand.
