Head coach Christian Streich extends SC Freiburg contract!

SC Freiburg have extended the contact of their head coach Christian Streich. The 55-year-old has been at the club since 1995 and will start his eleventh season as coach of Sport-Club’s Bundesliga team when SC Freiburg kick off the 2021/22 campaign later this year. Streich took charge in December 2011 and has managed in 342 competitive matches since then, making him the longest-serving coach in the Bundesliga.

“We’re delighted to be continuing to work with Christian beyond this season,” said head of sport Jochen Saier. “This deal is very important and once again shows the belief from all involved in the joint project. This is especially valuable considering how intensive and challenging this is and further demonstrates the shared desire to keep SC Freiburg on the current path in terms of development. The cooperation between Christian and the club is simply very constructive.”

“I’m very happy about the recognition and trust that has been placed in our work. Our work together has all the prerequisites that are needed for us to continue making progress on our current path as a club,” said Christian Streich.

SC Freiburg’s current coaching staff of Christian Streich, Patrick Baier, Lars Voßler, Florian Bruns, Andreas Kronenberg and Daniel Wolf will continue to work together.

Both parties have agreed to keep the terms of the contract confidential.
