Indian Super League newcomers Odisha FC has announced that striker Daniel Lalhlimpuia has extended his contract by two years until 2022.

The 22-year-old made 16 appearances for Odisha FC in the recently-concluded sixth edition of the tournament.

Mizoram-born Daniel Lalhlimpuia played locally before joining the Chandigarh Football Academy and then playing for the AIFF Elite Academy.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia then signed his first professional contract with Bengaluru FC before going on loan to Chennaiyin FC and then signing for Delhi Dynamos in 2018.

Odisha FC president Rohan Sharma said, “Daniel is an amazing youngster who is hard working and dedicated for the team. He is developing well with Odisha FC and has his best years ahead of him. Daniel has performed well for us in the last few years and I look forward to seeing him grow even further in the next couple of years. I am happy with his contract extension and wish him all the best. We will do our utmost to develop Daniel to become a well-rounded attacker for India.”

Daniel Lalhlimpuia said, “It feels great to have extended my stay with the Odisha family. I look forward to build on all the hard work put together over the last two years and achieve great heights with Odisha. I am grateful to all the coaches, support staff and the club management.”

“I was overwhelmed with the support and the passion the fans showed towards us and were there with us not just at home but also away on a few occasions. Hoping to bring glory to the state, its people and above all, the fans,” the forward further added.
