Delhi Dynamos defender Rama Gharami suspended for Doping offence!

Defender Rana Gharami, who plays for Indian Super League franchise Delhi Dynamos FC, has been provisionally suspended by India’s National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for testing positive for Prednisone.

Rana Gharami had tested positive on January 31 in the match against Kerala Blasters for Prednisone and Prednisolone metabolites in his blood system.

At the moment it is unclear how the substance got into the body of the player, if he took it himself or was handed by a club doctor or a private practitioner.

Delhi Dynamos FC in an official statement said, “Delhi Dynamos Football Club has taken notice of the report by NADA on Mr Rana Gharami who plays as a defender for the ISL club.”

“The club would like to clarify that it is assisting Rana with the case but that does not mean that it was the club that handed out any banned substance to the defender.”

“The club has a very serious no doping policy and will not entertain any of its players or staff to indulge in the same.”

“The club’s medical team is working diligently with the player and his team in finding out the nature of the substance and why if at all it was consumed.”
