Mohammedan Sporting defeat Southern Samity 2-1, Dipendu Biswas scores injury time winner!

Mohammedan Sporting celebrationsMohammedan Sporting Club defeated Southern Samity 2-1 in their Calcutta football League’s Premier Division – A clash on Wednesday at the Barasat Municipal Stadium.

Mohammedan Sporting took the lead in 69th minute through Usman Ashique, only for Basanta Singh to restore parity for Southern Samity in 72th minute from a spot kick. But the Black Panthers stuck an injury time winner through substitute Dipendu Biswas.

After the 2008/09 season Mohammedan Sporting have registered four back to back CFL wins.

Going in to this match Mohammedan Sporting coach Mridul Banerjee made one change in the starting line up. Midfielder Usman Ashique come in starting line up as a replacement of Atinder Mani. On the other hand Southern Samity started with the same starting line up which played in their previous match against East Bengal.

The Black Panthers dominated the game from the start keeping their possession in midfield but they lacked the finishing. In the 34th minute Southern Samity got a chance where Basanta Singh’s brilliant right footed shot was well saved by custodian Sayan Roy. Meanwhile a few minutes later Mohammedan Sporting’s Dodoz made a similar attempt and Southern Samity custodian Sourav did the same as Sayan Roy.

Mohammedan Sporting striker Dodoz was man marked by Southern Samity stopper Echezona and at the other end Mohammedan Sporting stopper Lancine Toure did a good job in defense by marking the Liberian Southern Samity striker Taurus. The first half ended goalless.

Mohammedan Sporting kept pressing in the second half in search of the all important goal. But every time the final ball was lacking with Southern Samity having similar problems. After the break, Southern Samity midfielder Antoni Soren looked more dangerous with his brilliant speedy move.

Finally the deadlock was broken by Mohammedan Sporting in the 69th minute through Ushman Ashique. Manvir Singh delivered a through pass into the Southern Samity box where Ushman puts the ball into the net and scoring his first goal on his debut. But Southern Samity found the equalizer just three minute later from a penalty. Ushman fouled a Southern Samity player in the penalty box. Referee Ranjit did no mistake to give the penalty and Basanta Singh scored from the spot.

Thereafter both team tried hard to find the winner. Mohammedan Sporting coach Mridul Banerjee made three changes. Ushman Ashique, Manvir Singh and Dipendu Dowary was replaced by Parvinder Singh, Atinder Mani and Dipendu Biswas.

And when everyone thought that the match would end in a draw, veteran substitute Dipendu Biswas came as Mohammedan Sportings savior by scoring his 249th goal of his carrier in the fifth minute of added time.

After this thrilling win Mohammedan Sporting are in second place of the CFL table. The Black Panthers will face Peerless SC in their next game at the same venue.
