Mohammedan Sporting Club suffered their first defeat of the season as Tollygunge Agragami beat them 2-1 in their 2016 Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ encounter played at Mohammedan Sporting ground on the Kolkata Maidans on Tuesday afternoon.
Tollygunge Agragami took the lead in the 26th minute when experienced defender Kareem Omolaja Nurain converted a free-kick just outside the box. But eight minutes later, striker Leonce Dodoz restored the parity for Mohammedan Sporting off a low cross sent in by Manvir Singh from the right side.
However, Tollygunge Agragami regained their one goal advantage when Palsang Lama headed home in the 39th minute from Joel Sunday’s free-kick which settled the closely contested match in Tollygunge Agragami’s favour.
Mohammedan Sporting after the break tried to once more equalise, but Tollygunge Agragami stood talk to score an upset win.
Mohammedan Sporting will face Bhowanipore FC in their next fixture on Sunday, August 14 at the same venue.
