Hyundai Motor Company delivers fleet of 112 vehicles to 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland!

The Hyundai Motor Company, the official automotive partner of the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, will supply a large vehicle fleet for this prestigious international football competition for players aged under 20, facilitating event logistics and offering an instrumental service to global sports diplomacy.

The company will provide 112 units of its Santa Fe, Tucson, Kona, i40 Sedan, i40 Wagon, i20 and Genesis G80 models to representatives of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Polish Football Association (PZPN) for the duration of the tournament from May 23 to June 15, as well as in the run-up to the event. The official Hyundai vehicle handover ceremony was staged yesterday.

The vehicles will be used to transport FIFA officials and organisational staff in and between the six cities in Poland that will host the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a biennial competition that is being held in the Central European nation for the first time.

The official Hyundai vehicle handover ceremony on May 13 took place in front of the Lódz Stadium and was graced by officials and staff from FIFA, the PZPN, Hyundai Motor Poland, Hyundai Lódz dealerships and various media outlets. Sebastian Cyborowski, the Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Poland, presented FIFA and PZPN delegates with a symbolic key to the vehicle fleet.

“Today, on behalf of Hyundai Motor Poland, it is my great pleasure to hand over 112 Hyundai cars to logistically support the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019, including the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Hyundai Tucson, the Hyundai Kona and Genesis premium sedans,” said Cyborowski. “The FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 will be a unique event. We will witness highly talented young players, who dream of becoming big football stars, pitting their wits against each other. I wish FIFA, the PZPN and all the players every success and hope that the tournament provides an awe-inspiring spectacle for all football fans in Poland.”

The 112 vehicles are marked with Hyundai 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup stickers in white or blue, while other Hyundai vehicles and promotional content will be on display before games at nine Hyundai booths outside four of the match stadiums.

“I am delighted to be here and to celebrate FIFA’s collaboration with Hyundai for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. Hyundai’s level of commitment and activation will help take the tournament to the next level. With the support of this long-term FIFA Partner, the teams and organisers will be able to give their best and make the first FIFA event on Polish soil a true celebration of football,” said Jérôme Matteucci, FIFA’s Head of Marketing Rights Delivery.

Sponsorship of football and its related activities is a key element of Hyundai’s marketing strategy, as the sport is globally beloved and unites fans in a spirit of sportsmanship. Football is the most popular sport in Poland.

“A great football event will be kicking off in our country very shortly. We will host not only the world’s 24 best national football teams at U-20 level, but also thousands of fans from all over Poland and around the globe. We have already proven on several occasions that we are capable of staging top-class tournaments, such as UEFA EURO 2012 and the UEFA European U-21 Championship 2017. I am sure that the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019 will be an equally huge success. To make that happen, we need a range of facilities and logistical support. Hyundai cars will ensure that our teams can work efficiently and comfortably during the tournament,” said Maciej Sawicki, the General Secretary of the PZPN.

This year’s competition will be contested by the following 24 countries: Poland, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Korea Republic, Mali, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Panama, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Africa, Tahiti, Ukraine, Uruguay and the USA. The opening game and final will be held at the Lódz Stadium.

The Hyundai Motor Company signed an agreement to sponsor FIFA competitions in 1999 and has been the official automotive partner of the 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 editions of the FIFA World Cup, as well as many other FIFA tournaments. In 2010, the company extended its strategic sponsorship agreement with FIFA to cover the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.

Hyundai also partnered with UEFA for 18 years, until 2017, and currently cooperates with several major European football clubs: Olympique Lyonnais in France, AS Roma in Italy, Hertha BSC in Germany, Atlético de Madrid in Spain and Chelsea FC in England. Through its sponsorship of international football competitions and other sports events, the Hyundai Motor Company has helped streamline their logistics and organisation, bolstering its brand awareness and perception worldwide along the way.
