Manchester United’s #ILOVEUNITED fan party set for Kolkata visit!

adidas - Manchester United 2016 home kitFor the third time in a year, the #ILOVEUNITED of English Premier League giants Manchester United is coming to India, this time a large-scale fan party in Kolkata, following feverish scenes at highly successful events in Bangalore and Mumbai in earlier this year.

The third incarnation of #ILOVEUNITED India will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2016, when United’s fans can enjoy a live screening of the highly-anticipated match against fellow title-hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur.

Club ambassador Dwight Yorke, as well as former United players Quinton Fortune and Bojan Djordjic, will attend the event at the East Bengal Club on the Kolkata Maidan’s, the home stadium the red and gold.

The screening of the Tottenham match will be the culmination of a weekend of activities in Kolkata, and East Bengal will be involved in the festival of football.

Fans can look forward to a ‘legends 3v3’ match, in which the trio of former United players will take on three legends from East Bengal.

The contest will be a part of a special 3v3 tournament on a small-sided pitch overseen by Manchester United Soccer Schools coaches. The competition is open to all fans and the winners will win the trip of a lifetime to a Manchester United match at Old Trafford. Fans should register their interest by visiting www.manutd.com/3v3india.

Applications will be entered into a ballot and successful teams notified via email prior to the event.

Throughout the weekend the United legends will meet fans and sample local culture before the Sunday fan party, where they will take part in an on-stage Q&A, share personal anecdotes from their time at the club and give pre and post-match analysis of the game. There will also be entertainment, giveaways and competitions courtesy of the club’s commercial partners.

#ILOVEUNITED India is free to attend and fans are asked to apply online for tickets by visiting www.manutd.com/iloveunitedindia by no later than Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Applications will then be entered into a ballot, with tickets issued at random. Successful applicants will be notified by email no later than Wednesday, December 7.

Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold, said, “Each time we visit India our ties become stronger and our popularity is on full show. We are overwhelmed by the support of the 35 million followers we have in the country. By bringing #ILOVEUNITED to India for the third time in 12 months, we’re demonstrating our commitment to this fan base.”

“We saw some unforgettable scenes in Bangalore and Mumbai, with both sets of fans cheering the team on to victory. We’ve no doubt this event will create a terrific atmosphere.”

The Bangalore event took place during United’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in January 2016, and the following month fans in Mumbai saw United beat Arsenal 3-2.
