Odisha FC secured their first double-figure goals in the Indian Women’s League 2023 with a resounding 10-0 victory over Churchill Brothers at the Shahibaug Police Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 5.
The Juggernauts started the game with Bala scoring in the 6th minute, giving them an early lead. Jasoda followed up in the 12th minute, confidently slotting the ball past the keeper and running in from the wing to double the lead. In the 18th minute, Karishma scored off a header from Karthika and Jasoda’s well-executed corner drill, adding to their advantage. Bala continued their scoring spree in the 21st minute with a shot from outside the box that crept into the bottom corner, making it 4-0. Jasoda set up Karthika in the 39th minute with a ball into the box, allowing her to shoot past the keeper and extend their lead to 5-0. In the 45+3 minute, Karishma scored her second of the game, and the Juggernauts headed into halftime with a commanding 6-0 lead.
The second half saw Faustina’s header cleared off the line by a defender, but she redeemed herself in the 56th minute with a belter into the corner after chasing the ball down from going out for a throw-in. In the 60th minute, Faustina turned provider, cutting one back in the box for Lynda to tap in. Sonali provided a beautiful cross in the 65th minute, allowing Malati to deftly stroke the ball into the net at the far post, making it 9-0. Finally, Malati scored her second of the game in the dying moments of the match, finishing off a sublime pass from Bannya and bringing the final score to 10-0 in favor of the Juggernauts
With this emphatic win, Odisha FC are set to face Lords FA Kochi YMAA on May 7 at Shahibaug Police Stadium in Ahmedabad.
