sporting-goa-u16-goa-velha-u16Sporting Clube de Goa Under-16 continued their opening form into the second match trouncing Goa Velha SC 5–0 at Don Bosco Ground in Panjim. Richard Cardoz (8’, 32’), Alister Anthony (29’), Karan Bagkar (35’), and Anthony Fernandes (50’) got on the scoresheet for Sporting Clube de Goa.

Sporting Goa forward Richard was on target again right at the start when he received a good through ball from Dattaraj Gaonkar to put it past the Goa Velha keeper and give an early lead to the young Oranje. At the half hour mark Richard came back haunting the Goa Velha defenders as he made a brilliant run on the left to set up Alister with a fantastic cross, the latter got it right on target to make it 2-0. Alister returned the favour in less than three minutes by sending in a mouth-watering cross to Richard who controlled the ball well before placing it past the keeper. Karan wrapped up the first half in style when he latched on to a good ball from Alister to make it 4–0 in favour of Sporting Goa at the break.

In the second half Goa Velha players picked up the tempo and put out a good resistance. It was the Goa Velha keeper’s heroics which ensured the score gap dint widen much. However in the 50th minute Anthony Fernandes managed to poke one in through a thickly populated Goa Velha box making it 5–0 for Sporting Goa. Rest of the second half saw a good contest between the Sporting Goa’s attack and Goa Velha’s defence.

With this win Sporting Clube de Goa have collected six points from two matches played and sit comfortably on top of the table.
