Delhi Dynamos & Chennaiyin FC both look to end the year with a win!

Delhi Dynamos and champions Chennaiyin FC both will look to end 2018 with all three points at the Marina Arena in Chennai. Both sides have had a disappointing campaign so far with Chennaiyin FC in ninth spot in the league table with one win while Delhi Dynamos are yet to register a win in 11 games so far in the season.

Josep Gombau’s side yet again let a lead slip as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in their last match against Jamshedpur FC. Lallianzuala Chhangte’s fourth goal of the campaign had handed the Lions the lead but disappointing finishing coupled with mistakes back at the back meant that the side failed to build on their advantage, as they slumped to a seventh defeat this season.

Delhi Dynamos will come into this game without the services of Narayan Das as he will be serving a suspension after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season.

Chennaiyin FC meanwhile have had a season to forget as well as the defending champions have failed to hit top form. Coach John Gregory drew numerous comparisons between the two sides in the press conference earlier in the day.

“Delhi Dynamos could have really been challenging for a playoff position. They have been dominating matches but missing their chances. A lot of parallels can be drawn with us.”

“I would say Delhi is the unluckiest team in the league after us. They have been working really hard but have been unfortunate. Their Head Coach Josep Gombau has been doing a very good job,” Gregory added.

Gombau though backed his side to register all three points and is confident that the team can maintain the intensity with which they have been playing so far.

“It’s an important game for us. We have come here to win the game. That’s the mentality that we have. We are playing good football, we are creating chances, but we aren’t converting chances. It’s very frustrating. But we have come here with a good mentality, and we want to win.”
