Goa Pro League: Uttam strike give full points for Churchill Brothers!

Uttam Rai scored scored the only goal of the match as Churchill Brothers SC edged past Panjim Footballers in the Goa Professional League match played at Rosary ground in Navelim on Monday.

The Red Machines’s goal came in the 58th minute when Savlon played through to Uttam and latter made amends to his dreadful day scoring past the young Panjim keeper.

Churchill Brothers rested their key players and started with Uttam Rai upfront and Nickson Castaha in the wing back. The experienced duo were supported by Jovel Martins, Suraj in the game.

The first half witnessed plenty of actions as Uttam Rai and Arvind missed plenty of chances for the Red Machines. The score line would have been different if they would have capitalized their opportunities. Panjim side weren’t at their best, so were the Red Machines. The Varta based side created many moved but the goal wasn’t in their luck in the first 45 minutes.

With nothing doing right, Churchill Brothers coach subbed off U-20 player Arvind Silva at the half hour mark bringing on versatile player Clencio Pinto.

The second half turned out to be more promising for the Red Machines with plenty of opportunities arising, but the story didn’t chance upfront. Uttam failed to guide in perfect delivery from the six yard box, from Clencio Pinto, who also had a quiet evening. Uttam finally made amends in the 58th minute when he scored connecting to Savlon’s pass.

Panjim’ Daryl Costa and Prasil K went into the referee’s book for rough play. Clencio Pinto also received a booking for rough play. Churchill Brothers register a scrappy 1-0 win to collect full points.
