I-League newcomers Chennai City FC, who are currently bottom of the table, have fired their head coach Robin Charles Raja and his assistant Andrew Oakley has been given the role of caretaker until a new coach comes in.
Chennai City FC besides Minerva Punjab FC were drafted into the 2016/17 I-League as corporate expansion teams but due to the decision coming relatively late both teams have had less than a month to put a squad together and then prepare for the I-League.
Chennai City FC had a very inexperienced squad of local players which since then has been strengthened with experienced I-League pros and foreigners, but their results have left a lot to be desired with especially goal scoring an issue.
In an official statement Chennai City FC said, “The management of Chennai City Football Club would like to announce the release of Mr. Robin Charles Raja as Head coach of its Hero I-League team with immediate effect.”
A replacement has not been announced so far with the club firing their coach for that insiders term decisions of squad and playing eleven selection besides differences with the club management.
