Independence Day Cup 2017: Chhinga Veng FC to face Chanmari FC in final!

Chhinga Veng FC came out on top of an evenly matched up Independence Day Cup semifinal with a 2-1 victory over Bethlehem Vengthlang FC.

Star striker Malsawmfela scored the all important goal to take his side through to the final.

In a rain-soaked match at the Lammual Stadium in Aizawl today, it was Chhinga Veng FC who took the lead on the 16th minute through R. Malsawmtluanga.

BVT FC came close to equalising on numerous occasions with Rammawia and Ramenga missing chances and Tluanga forcing a save from Chhinga Veng FC goalkeeper T. Mawia.

The second half saw play halted twice due to bad weather as in the first half and both teams found it hard to find a consistent tempo in their play with parts of the ground flooded.

But it was Chhinga Veng FC who found the winning goal when Malsawmfela applied the finishing touches to a freekick from R. Malsawmtluanga.

The final will be played with Chanmari FC facing Chhinga Veng FC on Tuesday, August 15 at 3pm.
