In great news for Indian football, the FIFA Council has awarded India the hosting rights for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The decision was made during the FIFA Council meeting in Miami, USA today.
The 7th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will become the second FIFA tournament to take place on Indian soil. India successfully hosted the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup which set a new all-time record in the history of FIFA youth competitions with a record attendance of 1,347,133.
A total of 16 countries including the host nation India will participate in the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
France was the only other country which handed in a bid to host the youth Women’s football tournament.
