India U-16 Team defeats Goa U-17 Team & FC Goa U-16 in friendlies!

The 23 member Indian U-16 National Squad played two matches on Tuesday, April 18 and whilst one-half of the Squad defeated Goa’s U-17 Team 5-2, the other defeated Goa FC U-16 4-0. Both matches were played at the Benaulim Ground in Goa.

In the first match against Goa’s Under-17 Team the Colts faced an early setback as the opponents took the lead in the 8th minute. But little did their spirits deter and a minute later Shabas put the Colts on level pegging as he scored the equalizer to make it 1-1.

In the 25th minute, Rohit Danu gave the Indian Colts the lead after he scored from the spot. The half-time scoreline read 2-1 in the Indian U-16 Squad’s favour.

Thereafter Gurkirat found the net in the 50th minute, Ali struck in the 65th minute and Givson added more gloss to the scoreline in the 88th minute, after the opponents had pulled a goal back in the 86th minute. The attacking domination of the Colts, much visible, led them to a 5-2 win against their opponents.

In the second match against Goa FC Under-16s, the Indian Colts found the net twice in both halves and registered an impressive easy win. Goals by Jobern in the 22nd minute and Vikram in the 44th minute led the Indian Colts to a 2-0 lead at the half-time.

That lead was further extended by a brace from Ridge in the second half as he found the net in the 75th and 88th minute. The full-time scoreline read 4-0 in the Colt’s favour.
