ISL-5: Jamshedpur FC host high flying FC Goa!

Redemption will be on Jamshedpur FC’s mind when they face FC Goa at the Furnace tonight. The last two meetings between these two sides have ended badly for Jamshedpur FC with the Goan side registering heavy wins.

Cesar Ferrando and co. will be looking to turn the tide when they take the field tomorrow against a FC Goa side that has gone strength to strength from the last season. But Jamshedpur FC have also started the current campaign on a positive note and with seven points from five games, the team from Jharkand sit fourth on the leaderboard.

Both the teams have been unbeaten so far with FC Goa being prolific in front of goal. But the biggest worry for the Gaurs will be the absence of star striker, Ferran Corominas. Coro will miss the next two games through suspension as he received a straight red card when Goa last played against FC Pune City.

For Jamshedpur FC, there are no injury or suspension concerns as of now with the good news being the return of Mobashir Rahman from injury. The youngster is back in training and has a chance to make it into the matchday squad.

Assessing the game against FC Goa, Cesar Ferrando talked to the press in his pre-match press conference. He said, “We are playing against a good team who have a good squad. They are playing well but we are playing at home. In the first half against Kerala Blasters, we played well and if we play like that for the full 90 minutes then we can surely win the match.”

Against Kerala Blasters, Jamshedpur FC raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half but conceded twice in quick succession in the second interval. Both the goals were avoidable and occurred due to lapses in concentration from Jamshedpur FC.

Giving an honest verdict on his side’s mistakes, Ferrando further stated, “The last two goals that we conceded came from crosses when there were about 7 players in and around the box who were just ball watching. We can’t make mistakes like that again. We want to keep the ball and create chances and most importantly, win games.”

The Jamshedpur FC boss was also asked if there was an advantage for his side with the absence of Ferran Corominas to which he replied, “Coro is a very good player, but their team does not rely on just him. They are good team without Corominas in the side and they play good football. Our preparation is not fixed on a single player, the focus is more on how the other teams play and how we can stop them.”

After four straight draws, the pressure is on Jamshedpur FC to turn a decent start to the season into a brilliant one. The challenge against FC Goa won’t be a walk in the park but Ferrando’s men have shown they can stand up and make themselves count against the toughest of sides. The Furnace awaits a cracking encounter!
