Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters have appointed Dutchman Eelco Schattorie as their new head coach going into the 2019/20 season.
47 year old Dutchman Eelco Schattorie last season had successfully coached NorthEast United FC taking the Highlanders to their first-ever ISL semifinal appearance. Earlier he had been their assistant coach in the 2017/18 season.
Besides having coached in his native the Netherlands for VVV Velvo, Schattorie coached in the Middle East and then I-League side United SC before taking over East Bengal Club.
Eelco Schattorie said about his appointment, “It is an honour to start leading this club back to glory. A club with the biggest fan base in ISL should be entertained with a winning team. That’s what we are going to try and accomplish with passion, teamwork and dedication at all levels. Let the journey start soon.”
“Kerala (Blasters) has a pool of young players in their backyard and hopefully we can start building players into the senior team with a Kerala heart,” Eelco added.
