MPL-7: Aizawl FC win dents Mizoram Police hopes!

Mizoram Police could not take proper advantage of their opponent’s packed fixture as a rotated Aizawl FC managed to earn a 2-1 win in round 13.

A relatively quiet first half saw clear chances at a premium as threats from both clubs were lacking in the final third.

Aizawl FC scored late on in stoppage time in the first half against the run of play when goalkeeper Awmpuia’s long ball was picked up by Isak Vanlalruatfela who produced superb technique to find the net from outside the box.

The second half was an open affair compared to the first as both teams created threats right from the start. Mizoram Police FC then managed to pull level on the 51st minute when Lalfakzuala’s set piece delivery from the left wing was headed in by Malsawmfela.

Both sides went in search of a winner at 1-1 and they came close on a few occasions. F. Lalremsanga and Lalrinchhana Tochhawng could not find the net from their opportunities while Lalsangbera was denied by Aizawl FC’s custodian Awmpuia at the other end.

Aizawl FC then struck again late with five minutes to go when the bright Rochharzela delivered a well weighted ball from the right channel which was headed in by substitute Lalkhawpuimawia.
