Vasco Sports Club defeated Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 2-1 in a Goa Professional League match played at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Wednesday.
The Port Town side broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through their star striker Schubert Pereira after he received an inch-perfect pass from Deryl Endro.
On changing sides, Flan Gomes added the second for the Vasco-based side through a fine finish that was in no reach of the Cavelossim keeper.
The Cavelossim side managed to pull one down in the 63rd minute with Alvito Miranda getting on to the scoresheet for the losing side, but Vasco thereafter kept their lead intact and won the game 2-1.
First Division League
United Club Telaulim edged past Associacao Academia de Moira 3-2 in the ‘Geno’ First Division League in association with Jhoncy restaurant, Benaulim, played at Artificial Turf at Fatorda in Margao on Wednesday.
Either of the teams started the match on equal footings however it was the Telaulim side which surged ahead as Joel Dias found the nets for the winners in the 15th minutes.
UC Telaulim who previously lost to Curtorim Gymkhana left no stone unturned as Valmiki Miranda dribbled past a couple of defenders and slammed home their second goal in the 30th minute. UC Telaulim went into the breather with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Post resumption, UC Telaulim came back with renewed vigour and started from where they had left off as Joel Dias completed his brace as he netted the third goal for his team in the 52nd minute.
Three goals down, the Moira side tried to made amends for their errors as Rudresh Tendulkar netted in the 81st minute to reduce the margin.
Soon afterwards, Ronald Martin netted a stunner in the 85th minute but the Moira side failed to get the equaliser as UC Telaulim defended well to maintain their one-goal lead, taking home all points.

GFA Second Division League
FC Neura blanked Young Boys of Tonca 5-1 in the Goa Football Association’s Second Division League match played at Agaissaim ground on Wednesday.
FC Neura started the match on an attacking note and surged ahead in the 12th minute itself as Chaitan Dabholkar netted the first goal for the Nuera side, however the joy was short-lives as Velaraney Rodrigues levelled things up three minutes later to make it all square.
The teams restricted to midfield play but it was Jowet Barretto who added the second goal in the 43rd minute to keep his team ahead before the teams went into the breather.
On changing sides, the rejuvenated Neura side came back stronger and tried to finish the game with Priteesh Mayenkar netting the third goal for his side in the 56th minute before Jowet Barretto inflated the lead further on in the 73rd minute make it very difficult for YBT to make a comeback. Saurav Naik finally drove the last nail in the coffin in the 82nd minute as FC Neura’s second half performance took away the game from the YBT side.
