BFF to build on the legacy of successful youth campaign!

The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF), with the support of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, has successfully organised a year-long campaign which focused on the rehabilitation of convicted youths.

The BFF, together with their partner Nazhoen Lamtoen, a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping youths, launched the campaign in 2020 to use football as a unifying force for the outreach of convicted youths who are often subjected to abuse, neglect and have been marginalised by society.

Since the start of the campaign, a total of 150 youths participated in the social responsibility programme, where they learned the basics of football, refereeing and participated in weekly training sessions.

The success of the programme was evident with one participant taking a step closer towards realising his dream of becoming a professional footballer after being selected to join the Bhutan U-16 national team trials.

Meanwhile, 17 other participants were also selected to join trials in various age-group categories in football clubs in the country.

The programme started with the focus on underprivileged youths in and around the capital of Thimphu, but the success slowly spread across the country with more youths joining the programme and finding meaning in their life through the power of football.

BFF will continue supporting the existing participants and others through future social responsibility programmes following the success of the campaign.
