Kolkata giants East Bengal FC have announced Spaniard Carles Cuadrat as the clubs new head coach going into the 2023/24 season.
54 year old Barcelona-born Carles Cuadrat Xiqués in his youth played for FC Barcelona, for whom he made it into their ‘C’ and ‘B’ team before going on to play for CF Gava and Sabadell FC.
After his playing career, Carles Cuadrat went on to coach in the FC Barcelona youth system.
He then joined Turkish giants Galatasaray as conditioning coach under Frank Rijkaard before jointly moving on as an assistant to Saudi Arabia.
At El Salvador, Carles Cuadrat joined Albert Roca as his assistant and then in 2016 they jointly moved to then I-League side Bengaluru FC. Cuadrat returned to the Blues as their head coach in 2018 and went on to lift the ISL title at the end of the campaign.
After leaving Bengaluru FC, Cuadrat worked as assistant at Cyprus side Aris Limassol and Danish side FC Midtjylland, now he returns to India.
