GUNG HO communications expand sports portfolio with New Balance Football!

Consumer sport, fashion and lifestyle communications agency, GUNG HO, has expanded its sport offering by adding New Balance Football to its exciting roster of clients, as well as announcing new senior hires to help grow its presence within the sports sector.

New Balance sponsor some of football’s most influential and talented players as well as a host of European club sides. GUNG HO, who has looked after PR and influencer activity for New Balance in the lifestyle sector for over ten years, will assist in managing the brand’s football press office, with spikes of key athlete and club activity across UK and Europe as we approach a huge winter of football and beyond.

In addition, GUNG HO has hired Paula Kowalska as Account Director to lead on New Balance Football as well as existing sports clients including Canterbury and Speedo, with Hamish Murdoch hired to support as Senior Account Manager. Both come with a wealth of experience across sports PR, communications and sponsorship, and will look to develop GUNG HO’s portfolio of clients within sport at a hugely exciting time for the agency.

This expansion of GUNG HO’s sports offering follows the acquisition of leading influencer marketing platform, Freestak, in spring 2022. The deal saw Freestak, which specialises in endurance sport, including running, cycling and outdoor, become a division of the agency.

Paul Phedon, CEO of GUNG HO, commenting on the appointment of GUNG HO by New Balance and the senior agency hires, said: “We’re thrilled to have been appointed by New Balance Football to expand the brand’s already burgeoning reputation within the world’s biggest sport. We can’t wait to build on the exciting work we’ve already started. Our new hires come with years of top-level experience in the sports and specifically football sector, and their expertise will prove invaluable in helping us make even further strides in to the industry.

Mary Lawton, Global PR Senior Manager at New Balance, welcomed GUNG HO’s appointment, saying: “GUNG HO is the ideal agency to continue helping us expand our presence in Europe in the world of football. Their knowledge of the sports, fashion and lifestyle industries is an attractive blend that we believe can help us do great things over the coming years.”
