India Women go down 1-5 to Morocco at COTIF Cup!

The Indian Women’s National Football Team lost 1-5 to Morocco in the COTIF Women’s Cup on Sunday, August 5 in Valencia, Spain.

After a drab first half where both teams failed to make the most of their opportunities and went into the tunnel on level pegging, with the scoreline read 0-0, it was the Indian Women who opened the goal scoring tally of the match.

Santhiya latched onto an Umapati Devi cross in the 42nd minute and bundled it home to give the Indian Women a 1-0 lead. Morocco however equalised in the 49th minute when the African side scored from the penalty spot.

A minute later Morocco scored a second to take the lead and in the 56th minute the opponents breached the Indian defence and found the net once again as the scoreline read 3-1.

Two back-to-back goals in the 69th and 70th minute for Morocco completed the rout as the Indian Women lost 1-5 to the African side.

The Indian Women play their final match in the COTIF Women’s Cup next on Monday, August 6 against Madrid C.F.
