The coach-educators of the Real Madrid Foundation’s social sports schools in Kolkata (India) received a training session in football and values delivered in person by the Foundation’s Training Department. Alongside the Institute for Indian Mother and Child the social sports school in Kheadah (Kolkata) became the Foundation’s first permanent project in Asia back in 2011. Now, for a seventh successive season, it also boasts support from Roadis.
The aim of the training was to strengthen knowledge of the Real Madrid Foundation’s educational philosophy and methodology, For a Real Education: Values and Sport. The coaches showed a great desire to continue learning new tools to be applied to tuition in values through sport. The social sports school, which is notable for its high participation of girls, runs its activities at the football field attached to the Sikshangan Challapara School in Kheadah, a rural area to the south of Kolkata.
Besides taking part in the training sessions, beneficiaries also receive a scholarship for study, uniform, school materials and supplementary food service each afternoon. All of this is delivered in collaboration with the Institute for Indian Mother and Child, who provide healthcare, food and education to over 9,000 people in extreme poverty every year in the rural areas of southern Kolkata.
