Clinical Jamshedpur FC beat struggling champions Chennaiyin FC!

Defending Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC suffered a 1-3 away defeat at the hands of Jamshedpur FC on Sunday evening.

Jamshedpur FC put early pressure on Chennaiyin FC and went ahead through a wonder strike from Pablo Morgado in the 14th minute following a corner.

The Steelmen were awarded a penalty in the 28th minute, when Jerry Lalrinzuala brought down Sumeet Passi following a strong save from Karanjit Singh. And it was Carlos Calvo who doubled the lead.

The home team went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Chennaiyin FC were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute after Gregory Nelson was brought down by Bkash Jairu in the box, but only after the assistant referee intervened and the referee agreed to point to the spot. Raphael Augusto send Subrata Pal the wrong way and it was now only 2-1 for Jamshedpur FC.

But that hope died only a few minutes later as Mario Arques’ weak header off a Carlos Calvo corner beat everyone to go in. And that was enough for Jamshedpur FC to beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1 on the night.

Chennaiyin FC next host south Indian rivals Kerala Blasters on November 29, while Jamshedpur FC face NorthEast United FC on December 1.
