Earlier in the day, the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the first rankings of 2017, India dropped two spots to be in 56th position behind Northern Ireland and ahead of Slovenia.
India have 1404 points, eight points less than last month and they move up a spot in 11th position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.
At the moment the India Women are preparing for the 2018 AFC Asian Women’s Cup qualifiers against North Korea, South Korea, Usbekistan and Hongkong after they had retained their South Asian supremacy
In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (95th), Bangladesh (103rd), Sri Lanka (105th), the Maldives (107th), Afghanistan (109th) and Bhutan (113th) with Pakistan currently unranked.
There were changes in the top 5. Germany (2,108 pts) have displaced the United States (2,105 pts) from the top position ahead of France (2,072 pts) in third, while England (2,022 pts) and Canada (2,017 pts) exchanged their positions to complete the top five.
