“Heroes: Centuries of Women’s Football” at FIFA World Football Museum!

To coincide with the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich is holding a special exhibition. “Heroes: Centuries of Women’s Football” opens on June 7, the day of the tournament’s opening match, and will run until July 28. Opening times will be 10:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Sunday, and entry will be free.

Women have always been involved in football, from its beginnings right through to the present day – as players, fans or advocates of the game. Women’s football owes its success to many inspirational figures, some of them famous and some not, at both amateur and professional levels. Many encountered resistance along the way, which unfortunately is still the case today.

This special exhibition presents a range of stories, reports and memories that encapsulate how the women’s game has evolved, from its humble origins to this year’s prestigious tournament in France, and highlights the museum’s commitment to shining a spotlight on the written and unwritten history of women’s football.

“We can’t wait for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 to begin, and through our special exhibition in Zurich, we hope the museum will contribute to the promotion of women’s football. ‘Heroes: Centuries of Women’s Football’ should appeal on many levels as well as stimulate debate, and hopefully change the way people think about the game,” explains Marco Fazzone, Managing Director of the FIFA World Football Museum.

The special exhibition will be housed in the event hall of the museum, which is located by the Zurich-Enge train station.
