ISL-4: FC Pune City win Maha derby 2-0 at Mumbai City FC to enhance semifinal chances!

Mumbai City FC suffered a 0-2 loss to FC Pune City in the ISL-4’s second Maha derby at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday afternoon.

While FC Pune City enhanced their chances to qualify for the first-time for the ISL playoffs, the continued poor run of form has further reduced Mumbai City FC’s chances to progress.

The guests had the better of the exchanges early on and they took the lead in the 18th minute when a Sarthak Golui cross from the right, which Diego Carlos put goalwards and finally went in off Raju Gaikwad.

The Islanders now had more of the chances, but couldn’t score to equalise as FC Pune City took the 1-0 lead into the break.

After the break Mumbai City FC striker Balwant Singh had multiple chances to score with Thiago having the best chance to equalise, but the hosts conceded a second seven minutes from time when Jonatan Lucca found Marcelinho and the Brazilian made no mistake to seal the match for the guests.
