Mohammedan Sporting Club will hope that the loss against Aryan Club is water under the bridge when facing Rainbow Athletic Club in their third Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ fixture this Saturday evening. Kick-off at Barasat Stadium is at 4:30pm.
It’s a match Black Panthers technical director Raghu Nandi will obviously be desperate to get a reaction from his men, but has admitted he faces a tough task to lift the battered morale of his players.
“As a coach I understand that part of my job entails building character and asking how do we come back from setbacks. It’s never feels good when you lose a match, but we still have a lot of work to do,” Nandi said. “Even in the dressing room we are being realistic because there are still many matches to play and many points to play for. We need to remind players that it’s not the end of the world.”
Rainbow AC will also be looking to bounce back following their 3-2 loss against Mohun Bagan earlier this week, and this will make things more difficult for the Black Panthers.
“Rainbow AC will be desperate to pick up points,” the Black Panthers technical director notes. “This will make them dangerous. There is also the matter of the big occasion for their players as added spice to the contest.”
“We are aware of how they play and of their danger men. Obviously we have to give them respect but we have prepared well. We have to put up some good work and make sure that we take care of their strengths,” Nandi adds.
Despite losing to Aryan Club, Mohammedan Sporting played a good brand of football and were let down by their finishing in the last third, with one such noticeable player being Princewill Emeka, who time and again found himself in good space but failed to convert.
However, Nandi backs the Nigerian to rediscover his goal-scoring form and feels what he is going through is normal for strikers.
“There are times when strikers go into spells where they don’t always score. I think Prince is working very hard. I am sure if he continues to do that he will score goals. He has the quality and we just have to trust him,” said Nandi.
